John T. McQueen, CFSP
Founder, President & CEO
John, a second generation, native of St. Petersburg, was born at St. Anthony's
Hospital. He is the youngest of three children born to William F. McQueen and
Clara Marie Battle. After graduating from Shorecrest Preparatory School, John
attended both St. Petersburg Junior College and the University of Tampa and
received a degree in Business Administration. He also graduated valedictorian
of his class at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta.
As President & CEO of Affordable Memorials, John is responsible for the overall
direction of the company as well as overseeing the daily operations. In addition
to the monument company, he serves as President of Sunnyside Cemetery and Vice-President/Chief
Operations Officer for Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes and Cremation Tribute
Center, Tampa Bay's largest family-owned and operated funeral firm. His extensive
background in both the funeral and cemetery operations has served him well in
building the proper foundation for Affordable Memorials.
Like his father before him, John is a Past President of the Florida Funeral
Directors Association. He was awarded the designation of Certified Funeral Service
Practitioner by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He is
also a member of the Florida Cemetery Association and the Florida Monument Builders
Association. John has been very involved with local community groups, including
the Exchange Club of Northeast St. Petersburg (twice Past President), Suncoast
Exchange Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (Past Board Member), Suncoasters,
Dragon Club, Quarterback Club and several Masonic organizations. He attends
St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
John is married to Nicole "Nikki" Paul and lives in Allendale with their young
daughter and young son.
Nicole P. McQueen
Vice-President -Business Development
Nicole was born in Quincy, Massachusetts at Quincy Hospital and grew up in historic
Plymouth, MA. She is the eldest of two children born to David J. Paul and Cheryl
A. Zoia. Nicole is a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and attended the Endicott
College where she received a degree in Advertising & Photography.
As Vice-President in charge of Business Development, Nicole is responsible for
marketing and relations between Affordable Memorials and our various distributors.
Her duties include overseeing all marketing and advertising, as well as developing
partnership agreements and activities with our network of memorial distributors.
In addition to her leadership role with Affordable Memorials, Nicole is a marketing
representative for First American Title, one of the nation's largest title insurance
companies.
Nicole has always taken an active role in the local community, including the
Exchange Club of Northeast St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg Suncoast Association
of Realtors, Women's Council of Realtors, Young Mother's League of St. Petersburg
and Florida Monument Builders Association. She attends St. Raphael's Catholic
Church.
Nicole is married to John T. McQueen and resides in Allendale with their two
children.
Cheryl A. Paul
Senior Design Consultant
Cheryl is a native of Quincy, Massachusetts. She spent many years living in
historic Plymouth, Massachusetts before moving to Florida in 1988. Cheryl has
spent the majority of her career in banking management and employee benefits.
She is a graduate of the American Institute for Banking and the Bert Rogers
School of Real Estate. She is licensed in Massachusetts in Saving Bank Life
Insurance and as a Mortgage Broker in Florida. Her years of detail work in banking
and benefits have served her well in her position as Senior Design Consultant
for Affordable Memorials. In fact, Cheryl has deep seeded "roots" in monument
and memorial design as her grandfather was the founder of Quincy Monuments in
Massachusetts.
On a personal note, Cheryl has been married to David Paul for
over 30 years. She has two children and two grandchildren.
Ronald Bowman
Senior Technician
Ron was born in St. Petersburg, Florida at the old Mound Park Hospital (now
Bayfront Medical Center). He is the youngest of seven children born to Harvey
Lee Bowman, Sr. and Annie Byrd Bowman. He is a graduate of Dixie Hollins High
School in St. Petersburg. Ron has participated in numerous training classes
and seminars including extensive training in the art of sandblasting.
Ron is
our Senior Technician. His duties include overseeing the daily coordination
& placement of all permanent memorials by our various technicians, sandblasting
of all additional inscriptions and dates, handling of quality control issues
and procedures, and training of all new technicians. Ron also has extensive
background in the operations of cemeteries. He began his career in cemetery
operational management in 1975 and has been employed as foreman of Sunnyside
Cemetery since 1984.
He is married to Suzanne Say Bowman and has four children:
Adam Bowman, James Maley, Sarah Say and Richard Say. They reside in Pinellas
Park.
Jane S. Thompson
Receptionist
Jane was born in Toronto, Canada, the fourth of five children. She moved to
St. Petersburg, Florida with her family in 1963 where she graduated from Northeast
High School and St. Petersburg Junior College.
Jane is the Senior Design Specialist for Affordable Memorials. Her duties include
assisting clients with custom design orders, overseeing the processing of all
monument and memorials, training of new design personnel and various other customer
service activities. Jane's years of experience in monument / memorial design
and processing have proven invaluable to the growth of our organization.
Outside of work, Jane enjoys sewing, crafts and spending her spare time with
her family.
Jane has been married to Dennis Thompson, a realtor with Bowman-Hoel and Associates, Inc.,
since 1971 and they have two beautiful daughters, Cindy and Brooke. They reside
